IBM 59H2671A bit more about 8mm (Data8) tapes today and I will write five entries today, this being the first of them, it’s a promise with exclusion and limitation clauses to the effect that I cannot be held responsible if something prevents me from doing so and in the event that I’m held responsible my liability will be limited to one cent per post I miss. For me to write, for law students to be amused with and for people in general to hate…Ah the many wonders of law…Now that that is out of the way, we can move on.
The IBM 59H2671 is not a 170m tape but it is also for usewith 8mm tape drives albeit not all of them. It has a capacity of 2.5 GB nativeand 5 GB compressed and while this may not be at all impressive, let me assureyou that this is only because this 8mm tapemedia has a tape length of 22.5m. The IBM 58H2671 was made for use with IBM 8mm tape drives and not withMammoth tape drives but may be compatible anyway.
Up next…Exabyte’s 170m tape…
